Iain Doctor
Iain is a commercially focused Head of People and a valued member of the team, bringing a diverse career spanning both retail management and human resources. He began his career at Somerfield, where he developed a strong foundation in operational leadership while building and leading high-performing teams. This early experience sparked his move into HR, where he supported the integration of acquisitions and gained valuable exposure to organisational change, cultural alignment, and employee engagement. These experiences helped shape his broad generalist skillset across the full employee lifecycle.
Iain further developed his expertise at Au Naturale, working within a centre of excellence for talent acquisition and development. In this role, he played a key part in strengthening capability across the business by attracting, developing, and retaining talent to support growth, while also enhancing approaches to succession planning and leadership development.
In his current role as Head of People at New Look, Iain acts as a strategic partner across Retail, Logistics, and Supply Chain. As part of the team, he leads the delivery of the full people agenda, working closely with senior leaders to drive business performance, improve organisational effectiveness, and support large-scale transformation. He holds accountability for talent development across the organisation, with a strong focus on building future leadership capability, strengthening succession pipelines, and fostering a high-performance, inclusive culture where individuals and teams can thrive.
Based in Scotland, Iain enjoys travelling and spending time with family and friends. He is also committed to giving back to the community, serving on the committee of a local hospital, where he contributes to initiatives aimed at enhancing the experience, environment, and wellbeing of both patients and staff.
Gerard Adams
Gerard is an experienced People leader and current Head of People at New Look, where he leads Support Centre Business Partnering and Talent Acquisition, partnering closely with executive teams to shape organisational design, drive transformation, and build high-performing cultures.
He began his HR career at Phones 4u, developing from the ground up across talent acquisition, development, HR operations, and employee relations, before moving into roles at Dixons Carphone and JCB. These experiences gave him a broad commercial perspective across retail and manufacturing, as well as deep expertise in navigating change, integration, and complex people challenges.
Gerard has held a number of senior roles across both retail and corporate environments. From leading people strategy across major retail divisions and flagship London stores, to driving large-scale organisational redesign, TUPE programmes, and executive coaching at Support Centre level, his focus has consistently been on delivering practical, people-focused outcomes that enable business performance.
Alongside his core roles, Gerard has operated as a Senior People Change Partner, bringing a dedicated change lens to transformation and ensuring organisations land change in a sustainable and engaging way. He is passionate about applying this lens and sharing it with the clients he consults with.
Outside of work, Gerard is a dedicated cinephile, a family man, and an avid traveller, with a particular love for time spent in the South of France.
